Collaborative R&D

Collaborative Research & Development CR&D is designed to assist the industrial and research communities to work together on R&D projects in strategically important areas of science, engineering and technology – from which successful new products, processes and services can emerge. Regular calls are announced throughout the year and topics vary with each call. Example sectors are ICT/Digital, Low Carbon Vehicles, Biotechnology, and Healthcare.

  • Projects must comprise collaborative activity either science-to- business or business-to-business interactions involving a minimum of two partners
  • Grant levels can be between 25% (for experimental development) and 75% (for applied research executed by Universities)
  • Funding is typically £250k – £800k
